Man suspected of killing 1, injuring 2 turns self in

A man thought to have stabbed three people at a restaurant in Daejeon on Tuesday surrendered himself to the local police five hours after the incident.

A 46-year-old woman, who was the owner of the restaurant, was killed in the attack while her husband and son sustained severe injuries, Daejeon Dongbu Police Station said.

Investigations showed the killer entered the restaurant around 6:20 p.m. Tuesday and spoke with the victims for few minutes. The man then attacked them, and quickly fled the scene.

While authorities were tracking the killer down based on security camera footage, a man voluntarily turned himself in at around 11:20 p.m. the same day, claiming responsibility for the crime.

He is now under investigation for murder and attempted murder.

The police believe the suspect and the female victim were business partners of some kind but said that the exact nature of the partnership and whether it is linked to the crime remained unclear.

According to the police, the suspect is refusing to speak until his lawyer is present. He is currently being held in police custody.
