The South Korean Embassy in the Philippines said a 61-year-old man was arrested by police at Clark International Airport in Clark Freeport Zone in Angeles City and Mabalacat, northwest of Manila, on Tuesday before taking a flight to his home country.
According to the embassy, the police found one pistol with five bullets and two bags of drugs.
The man, who name has not been revealed, claimed that he was set up by his acquaintance who visited the Philippines seeking business opportunities with him. The police are currently searching for the acquaintance.
The South Korean embassy said it has dispatched a consular officer to handle the case and asked the local authorities for a fair and quick investigation. (Yonhap)
