Bundang has the lowest smoking and drinking rates among cities in Gyeonggi Province, statistics showed Monday.
The research was conducted on 41,000 Gyeonggi residents who visited local health care centers in the region in September, October and November.
Among the visitors, residents of Bundang, one of the wealthiest cities in Gyeonggi province, showed the lowest smoking rate at 17.2 percent.
The rate is about half that of Dongducheon, which showed the highest number of smokers at 31.1 percent of those questioned.
Bundang also had the lowest drinking rate at 6.4 percent, under a third of the rate in Yongin, which showed the highest at 20.7 percent.
It also ranked fourth for obesity, following Yeongtong in Suwon, Jungwon in Seongnam and Gwacheon.
Yeoncheon, a town in northern Gyeonggi, had the highest obesity rate at 27.7 percent.
Overall, health indicators in Gyeonggi Province have improved with 1.4 percent decrease in smoking rate from last year. The rate of high-risk drinking dropped by 2.8 percent and the obesity rate declined 0.3 percent as well.

경기도 성남시 분당구가 도내에서 흡연율과 음주율이 가장 낮은 지역으로 나타났다.
4일 도가 지난해 9~11월 45개 보건소를 찾은 4만1천여명의 주민을 대상으로 조사, 발표한 ‘2010년 도민건강통계’에 따르면 분당구 주민의 현재 흡연율(평생 100개 비 이상 흡연한 사람 중에 현재 흡연하는 사람의 비율)은 17.2%로 나타났다.
이는 도내 최고로 31.1%인 동두천시의 절반을 조금 웃도는 것이다.
분당구는 고위험 음주율(최근 1년동안 음주한 사람 중에 한번의 술자리에서 남자는 7잔 이상, 여자는 5잔 이상을 주2회 이상 마신 사람의 비율)도 6.4%로 도내 최저였고, 이는 도내 최고인 용인시 처인구 20.7%의 3분의 1 수준이다.
분당구의 비만율 (체질량지수가 25이상인 사람의 비율)은 수원시 영통구, 성남시 중원구, 과천시에 이어 4번째로 낮았다. 비만율이 최고인 곳은 연천군으로 27.7%였다.
도내 전체 현재 흡연율은 24.9%로 전년대비 1.4%포인트 낮아졌고, 고위험 음주율은 14.6%로 2.8%포인트, 비만율은 23.1%로 0.3%포인트씩 감소한 것으로 조사됐다.
